Im so sure, when I look at these fascinating reproductions, that I know what they are - if only I could see the original images from which these were inspired. Landscapes, they are - surely... I can just about decipher traces of evidence that these are images of places; trees, roads, lakes… The tricky twist that Tyson Anthony Roberts has deliberately crafted, I think, is that we're at conflict with ourselves when our imagination believes it sees something but our rationale tells us we don't. It reminds me of seeing things through smoky glass - when everything looks fat and out of range.
